When to follow its large boat owners, group Bénéteau decided to develop a prestigious 60’, CNB, the yard part of the group located in Bordeaux, was entrusted with the project.
To tackle the project, CNB gathered around its in-house study department, a team with internationally recognized flair: Philippe Briand for the naval design and Hugon Couëdel Design for interior ergonomics and design.
The aim assigned to the project team was to create a prestigious unit, easy to sail, elegant and comfortable.
Through the quality of chosen solutions, the deckplan ergonomics, the beauty of lines, the richness of interior equipment, the Bordeaux 60’ is a talented expression of the project, while remaining faithful to the fundamentals which built up the international name of the group: seaworthy, tried construction, quality materials, stringent execution.
At a time when one is eager of everything, the serial Bordeaux 60’ brings the pleasure of superyacht. The central living area, located at the maximum beam in order to reduce the effect of pitching is very large (close to 5 m), raised and abundantly lit through the panoramic windows of the coachroof.
Meeting point of life on board, it gives access to the owner’s cabin, aft or forward at choice, and to the aft cockpit. The aft cockpit is well protected, and gives direct access to the sea by way of the opening transom which doubles as a door to the tender garage.
Flush deck forward, high ratio rig, plumb stem, moderate displacement and waterline beam, reduced wetted surface of appendages are characteristic of performance. Aesthetics shows reality, as we wanted the Bordeaux 60’ to be a fast boat, to reach quickly beyond the horizon and foremost to bring pleasure when sailing her.
Because such a program cannot always be shared, the boat has been designed to be sailed very easily, even by a couple. Sheets winches are within easy reach from the steering wheels, standard roller furling genoa, optional self-tacking jib allows easy tacking.
Late 2006 the CNB shipyard who just built the latest 115’ design, will launch this “spirit of superyacht”, the Bordeaux 60’ to reach for new horizons.
